Bowring Park
The pride of St. John’s, Bowring Park is an 81-hectare (200-acre) urban park. Endowed with a duck pond, numerous sculptures, tennis courts and miles of walking paths, Bowring Park’s original 20 hectares (50 acres) were designed by Frederick Todd and Rudolph Cochius and opened in 1914. The park is located to the southwest of the city on what had long been farmland until the Bowring family purchased the land to donate it to the city on the centennial of their business, the Bowring Brothers stores.
