Thomas Keller's French Laundry in California has long been lauded as America's finest restaurant so it makes sense that he would turn his attention to New York City, America's most food-diverse city. I love stopping at Bouchon Bakery just to gaze on the most elegant baked goods in the city. His cookies are arranged in precise rows, his pastel macaroons are perfectly round, the crunchy salt sprinkles sparkle just so on his chocolates and the peanut butter cups cost $3 apiece but they're so gorgeously packaged I buy them anyway. I did ruin the fig honey parfait above by digging in a spoon but I took a lot of pictures first. Mr. Keller knows that we eat with all our senses and he makes sure that our eyes feast first.
