Oh, Bouchon! Don't let the long line out the door discourage you—these delicious pastries are well worth the wait and the outdoor café tables make for a lovely spot to dig in once you're handed your treats.

Baked Goods at Bouchon's Bakery in the Napa Valley
I'm a sucker for a good pastry and coffee in the morning which is why I would gladly head to Bouchon Bakery every morning if I could. I went to famous Chef Keller's bakery in Yountville, one of a few locations in the country, during my weekend trip to the Napa Valley. I sampled the pumpkin brioche and the coffee cake with a latte as I sat out on the patio with my friends taking in the morning sun. And Yountville is a pretty quiet town in the morning so it was the best way to wake up.
Whenever my family comes to visit and it's a weekend, the first order of business is a trip to Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, CA. What keeps us coming back is the chocolate brioche doughnut, a genius of a creation filled with creamy chocolate ganache, a chocolate glaze and studded with crispy chocolate rice balls. (FYI - it's only available intermittently on weekends so call ahead to find out if they're being made). We've also been known to show up with a small cooler in tow so we can pack extra Oh Ohs, Thomas Keller's fanciful take on a Hostess Ho Ho with swirls of moist chocolate cake and sweet whipped cream wrapped in a hard dark chocolate shell. Go ahead: take a bite of either the doughnut or the Oh Oh and try not to smile or feel like a kid again.
Thomas Keller has made quite a name for himself in Napa Valley with the region's finest restaurant, The French Laundry, as well as Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery. The bakery is located on the main street of Yountville, a small town in Napa Valley off of Highway 29. The bakery is easy to find--there is always a line outside. The line moves fairly quickly, and inside you find an array of goodies to choose from, including lunch items and French-style pastries. One of the most popular items is the macarons, the fluffy yet crisp French cookie that has become so trendy in California lately.
