Heaven and Earth's Romance
Just arrived last night to Moncioni, Italy about an hour south of Florence. Every breath of this air is enlivening. The luscious and rolling landscape massages our souls. The food truly makes you feel more alive because it awakens every sense. Last night we drove an hour through winding gravel roads carved into the forested hills to a fabulous restaurant called Bottega 30, run by a French/Italian couple. The chef greeted us at the door, and brought out black chickpea soup, olive baguette, first course: ravioli with spinach ricotta and a fresh egg cracked on top of it, main course: quail with spinach and foie gras, and for dessert: a pistachio semi-frese with caramel and candied cashews, flourless chocolate torte, and a strawberry sorbet. We are in a great, graceful place.
