Walking and Scrambing in the Langstrath Valley
A hidden bothy, wild swimming, great walking and scrambling, and 360-degree views of the Lake District - the Langstrath Valley really is an outdoor persons dream. The trail down the Valley starts at Chapel House Farm campsite, and goes all the way out to the sea - we didn't go this far, after lunch at Black Moss Pot (wild swimming passible in summer) the Valley opens out and we veered right to begin the ascent towards some easy-to-moderate scrambling on Cam Crag Ridge. It's a really nice scramble, and there is a little secret bothy just before the start - if you're lucky enough to find it, make sure you sign the 'guest book'! Continue upwards to summit Glaramara peak (783m) and loop back to the campsite - you'll experience natural caves, the Combe Gill hanging valley - which is so Narnia-like, and panoramic views of most of the Lake District - magical!
