Party like a local under the full moon on Tortola
If you live in the British Virgin Islands, the arrival of the full moon is a perfectly legit reason to whoop it up. At Bomba's Shack, a mishmash of haphazardly nailed together boards and signage that passes for a beach bar, the monthly celebration is a local tradition. I did a double take as I strolled through Apple Bay one day, a few hours before the party was set to begin. You really have to stop and give this shack some undivided attention to appreciate the effort that went into creating it. As evening approaches, revelers gather, their bodies swaying to the beat of live calypso music. Next, out comes the happy tea-- a hallucinogenic concoction made from the psilocybin mushroom. (The word's still out as to whether or not this beverage is legal in the region.) If you prefer shopping to 'shrooming, you can always head over to nearby Trellis Bay on Beef Island, where the full moon draws arts, crafts and food vendors onto the beach. Full moon party dates for 2015 are as follows: 1/5, 2/3, 3/5, 4/4, 5/4, 6/2, 7/2, 7/31,8/29, 9/28, 10/27, 11/25, 12/25
