My Own Private Lake
A short drive northwest of San Antonio sits Boerne, where the City Lake Park has the relaxed feel you’d expect from a small Hill Country town—but because this is Texas, "small" is not quite as it seems. Along with kayaking, paddle boarding, and a dock for sailboats and other non-motorized vessels, you'll find a butterfly garden, a blind for bird-watching (Texas is famously a significant flyway for migratory birds), hiking trails, a playground, a volleyball court, and a nine-hold disc (Frisbee) “golf” course. Or one can skip all the activities and laze the day away, swimming along the sandy shoreline, floating in oversize inner tubes or having a picnic with family and friends. At 100 acres, the lake is larger that it seems—yet still feels like a private hideaway.
