Every Friday evening, the Blue Bird Garage Food and Goods Market is a gathering place for local residents and out-of-town visitors staying in the area. The small size and community feel to this market is one of the many reasons why I was drawn to it. There is a good variety of choice when it comes to food: from Chinese, to Indian, to beef pitas and falafel, burgers, wraps, and my favorite - chicken peri peri on a Portuguese roll. There are a couple of jewelry, clothing, and book tables to browse, too. Sometimes there is live music, which adds to the ambiance, and the small bar at the back is always busy serving beer (try the Honey Blonde Ale) and wine. It's a great venue for families because there is a kids activity corner in the back. I always make it a point to leave with either fresh flowers or a dessert (who am I kidding, it's always dessert!)
This indoor market is located just across the street from the False Bay MetroRail station and open from 4pm to 10pm.
