During my first trip to India, my goal was to open my heart. Volunteering was one of the ways I was going to do that - connecting with others who could benefit from our time together. One of those experiences was volunteering at Mother Teresa Charities in Kolkata, India. The modern saint’s legacy and organization allow many volunteering opportunities. I chose to spend a week at the Shanti Dan home, which is the home for disabled women. There, I made beds, painted toenails, and got into a groove with a group of ladies and our coloring books.
