Blenheim Palace

Heritage for the 21st Century
Only 20 minutes from the centre of Oxford you’ll find the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, and, had his plans to invade Britain succeeded, the potential home to Hitler. Now residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Malborough, Blenheim Palace is a veritable powerhouse of history, set in 2000 acres of glorious landscape designed by Capability Brown. Walk around the lake, tour the house and Water Terraces, get lost in the maze (the world’s second largest hedge maze), let the kids maraud in the excellent wooden Adventure Playground, play giant chess, tiptoe through the Butterfly House, or travel on the Miniature train that links the Pleasure Gardens and Palace. Alternatively, pack a picnic, a bottle of wine and watch others do all of the above whilst you lie in the vast landscape and gaze up at the blue sky and fluffy white clouds.
