The Provence of Texas
A smaller town smack dab in the Hill Country, between Austin and San Antonio, Blanco offers respite year round from the busy city life with its B&Bs, live music venues, and the Blanco River and State Park. There's also the Blanco Lavender Festival, held yearly in the middle of June. Among the live oak groves and limestone hills and banks that define the area, lavender plants have been grown commercially here since 1999, when the owners of Hill Country Lavender realized that the climate and growing conditions here were similar to that of Provence, France.
