The Biscainhos Museum is housed in a former palace, originally built in the 16th century but most of its architectural features were added in the 18th century. For Baroque lovers, it's a real treat.
Visits around the furnished palace are guided. The furnishings may not be the original pieces but they are typical of the period and give you a good insight into the lifestyle of Portuguese nobility at the time.
Best of all are the tiered gardens complete with a summer house or two set into the walls and plenty of flowerbeds and fountains.
It's well worth the 2 euro entrance fee (as at May 2013). The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 12.15 and 2 to 5.30 but you should ring to check about public holidays (+351 253 204 650)
