The estuary of the Copalita River is a haven for more than 225 bird species, which find safety and shelter in the almond, cedar, ficus and mahogany trees, as well as the area’s mangroves. An experienced guide will help you see a few dozen birds during a three-hour walk. Covering a mile or so of territory, look out for hummingbirds, tanagers, flycatchers, buntings and, if you’re lucky, the endemic Colima pygmy owl.
