Hands-down our favorite epicurean experience in Vieques, this place has a great wine list, delicious tapas, and classy, real table cloths (you'll pick up on this when you visit Esperanza).
We had such great food while we were on the island, we were always complimenting the locals. They all assumed we had eaten at Bili. This wasn't even a place we had tried yet. Simply, this place is a must if you are looking for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with a serious chef. The website claims the fame: Eva Bolivar's culinary skills have been featured in Food and Wine Magazine, New York Times, USA Herald, and the Travel Channel.
We were on the island for a few days, and every day this restaurant was closed. Note to travelers in August: It's only open Thursday through Sunday. We learned that most shops and restaurants go on hiatus the end of the summer during the off season—nice because there was no rush or crowds to deal with. And we were lucky—this place finally opened on our last day on the island!
