Situated at the six-way of Chicago Ave, Milwaukee and Ogden, Big Shoulders Coffee is well lit and beautiful. You’ll want to stay awhile. But when you see the back walls—a screen displaying arrival times for the CTA Blue Line and #56 bus, and the opening stanza of Carl Sandburg’s ‘Chicago’—you’ll know that the folks at Big Shoulders seem to think you’ve got places to be.
That’s why it’s perfectly brewed for busy Chicago commuters and visitors alike.
Big Shoulders roasts its own delicious coffee (it’s found throughout the city), which is obviously served here in its shop. The food menu has been kept small—a few pastries, a few savories. Add that the staff couldn’t be friendlier, and you’ve got the best stop on your way to or from O’Hare (it’s at the Blue Line Chicago stop), or before or after exploring the eclectic West Town neighborhood.
