One review said that this was the best Beijing duck restaurant in Beijing since it opened in 1855, but lost some of its prestige since the People's Republic of China was established. Back in America, I thought ten years was a long time for a restaurant to be open.
Let's be clear, this place is delicious. Perhaps if you dedicated your life's work to ranking Beijing duck restaurants, you might be able to say that this isn't the best duck ever. But for the rest of us, it's pretty darn good.
It's a restaurant, so there are plenty other side snacks to much on. I'm partial to garlicky cucumber and spicy green beans.
One other thing this branch has going for it: If you're staying at one of the hotels in the Financial District, like the Westin, this restaurant is just a ten minute cab ride down Fucheng Road if there's light traffic.
