A basket of locally grown farm-fresh food is what Maine eating is all about
I have lived in Mid-Coast Maine for quite a while now, and I saw the hand painted signs for Beth's Farm Market for easily several years before I finally went there to see for myself what they might have in store. I can't believe I waited so long! It's farm-fresh Maine at its very best, and it's not at all far from Route 1, the main road that runs along the coast that most folks are on anyway as they head to their summer camps or to the ferry's that will bring them out to their island retreats. If you're headed up Route 1 on your way to Rockland, Rockport, Camden or points north, do yourself a favor and load up a basket at Beth's on your way. You won't regret it. I know it must sound as though Beth is a cousin of mine, but I promise you, I know none of the folks who work at or run this place. I just think picking through produce bins full of classic seasonal vegetables and fruits, and a few heirloom varieties thrown in for good measure like you'll find at Beth's, is what Maine living is all about.
That first meal of your summer vacation really ought t be Maine farm fresh food, not fast food, don't you think? Celebrate Maine's finest, from the earth.
