France's Well-Kept Secret
The French city of Besançon keeps itself to itself, which makes discovering it all the sweeter. About an hour from the Swiss border, this small city in the Franche-Comté region is just a two-hour trip from Paris on the TGV and with a Renaissance-era city center, the destination is heaven for any castle-enthusiast or history buff. However, I went for the cheese, the warm and welcoming local people, and the fresh air.
