Exploring Old Town San Diego
Not just for tourists, local San Diegans love to explore Old Town. A large section of Old Town is a state park consisting of buildings and homes rebuilt to match the originals back when San Diego was settled. Old Town is also known as the "Birthplace of California" as the state's first European settlers built homes here. Old Town is where you will find the best tequila in town, along with many activities the entire family can enjoy.

South American food in Old Town

Large arrow left

Berta's is a hidden gem with delicious South American food located in Old Town. There's a large chain restaurant next door and it always astounds me that tourists (and even locals) will saunter past Berta's fresh cooked food into a place that serves over-fried seafood.

Everything I've had here is good, but Olinda's pudding topped with a port reduction sauce for dessert is a specialty that Berta makes as was taught to her by her grandmother.
