Beatrix is the kind of restaurant where visitors go for brunch and then they stop by for a late afternoon cocktail. The next morning they pop in for a morning coffee and then find themselves making dinner reservations there as well. Beatrix is a coffee bar/restaurant/cocktail lounge and manages to do all of these things well, including accommodating gluten free visitors with an entire menu to peruse. I ate brunch at Beatrix and I can highly recommend the poached eggs and quinoa cakes pictured above. Beatrix’s location in River North is ideal for the Chicago visitor, close to downtown but not in the loop, and they serve food from 6am until 11pm with a bar that closes at midnight.
