One of the most surprising things to me about Paris is that Parisians are just as enthralled with the Seine as we tourists. To them the river is a long and winding park that beckons locals to bask along it shores. Even though the banks of the river are made of concrete and stone, it doesn't discourage locals from treating it like the park-likeTuileries. They lounge in the sun with friends, drinking wine, picnicking, reading or just contemplating the secrets of the river.
The river is enjoyed by groups and those interested in more solitary pursuits. On this day, this older gentlemen sat for a long time in this same unmoving position and contemplated the Seine... and when he finally rose he seemed infinitely at peace. Perhaps, there is magic to the mesmerizing Seine.
