Explore Catalonia’s best Contemporary art at MACBA.
Check out abstracts from the fifties, European pop and avant-garde from the seventies, and a great collection of current pieces. This modern white cement and glass building—designed by Richard Meier—houses art by Spanish, Catalan, and international artists, particularly from South America and Eastern Europe. Outside, watch local skaters do gravity-defying tricks. Also make sure to check out the restored Keith Haring Street Art Mural—dedicated to the fight against AIDs—on a wall next to the museum. Addresses: MACBA: Plaça dels Àngels, 1 08001, Barcelona // Keith Haring Mural: Next to MACBA Plaça dels Àngels, 1 08001, Barcelona

MACBA
Definitely worth a visit, if only to admire the stunning building. Exhibits appeal most to those who appreciate the conceptual and abstract.

MACBA: great art, great skateboarding
This was the perfect location for my boyfriend and I. Not only is it a world famous modern art museum, but it's also a world famous skateboarding spot. The architecture in Spain is known as being great for skateboarders and they don't discourage it. But the MACBA specifically is known as THE spot to skate at. I enjoyed the art inside while my boyfriend enjoyed the art outside.
