Local specialty "tortillita de camarones" at Bar Peneque, Plaza de España
Tortillitas de Camarones (shrimp fritters) are a specialty of the Cádiz region. The morning after we viewed our new apartment in the historic Casa Mayorazgo, we wandered down the steps and enjoyed a celebratory lunch at Bar Peneque.
I had a lovely, crispy, prawn-y tortillita (and some croquetas) under the orange trees, admiring the beautiful Plaza de España. The bar is a favourite with locals despite being right on the most popular tourist square, serving authentic, great-value food with friendly service. Highly recommended.
