Dodda Alada Mara (Big Banyan Tree) as is it called in the local language is 400 years old. Though the mother root of this tree is long dead, this single tree is spread over 200 acres and continues to flourish. An absolute delight for an evening stroll. Especially enchanting if the little temple on the premises is celebrating a festival. Oh! And do be careful with any snacks you are carrying. Monkeys don't hesitate in helping themselves to it.
