I was thrilled at finding Taipu de Fora beach exactly how I had hoped it would be - undiscovered with miles of unspoilt beaches and palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze.
Tide pools formed in the early morning and there were only 1-2 restaurants to eat in.
We stayed at a small hotel called Village Taipu and when you come out of the hotel, walk to your left on the beach and you will come to a small shack. The woman in the shack takes care of these horses with her family and she'll take you for a ride along the beach and to this summit over a small hill where you can see the entire coastline.
I wasn't scared to ride these horses but once I got on them and they started trotting, the fear kicked in. But at some point I just let go and gave myself to the moment - riding this beautiful animal along the coast somewhere in Brazil - I got to see a part of the world that was hard to get to, untouched by resorts and fancy hotels where our horse owners had settled down and made a life for themselves.
The best part when we got to the hill was taking time to hang out with the horses and look at the gorgeous view of the coast. Even our horses enjoyed the view from the hill.
