The Bagel Grove, in the unglamorous city of Utica, New York, is a family run shop that invents bagels you can't even find in the famous bageleries in New York City (where I live). Their "scromlette" breakfast sandwich is also one of the most satisfying I've ever eaten in my life.
Not only is their spicy everything bagel worth writing not just home about, so is the Utica Greens bagel that they have on occasion. Utica Greens are an Italian-Utican original consisting of escarole, hot peppers, parmesan and other ingredients. Utica even hosts the Utica Greens Fest every year to celebrate this delicious dish.
If you are driving on I-90 between Syracuse and Albany, stop in Utica to visit the Bagel Grove.
