Azizi Life

Gitarama Road, Gitarama, Rwanda

Spending the day in a Rwandan village was an incredible experience, from hoeing and collecting feed for the animals, to getting water from the local well and sharing cassava and beans with the ladies of a craft collective. Such an amazing cross-cultural encounter. Easy to get to from Kigali and recommended to anyone who’s interested in African daily life.

A day in the life of a Rwandan village Mama

If you have some spare time when you are next visiting Kigali, why not head out of town to Gitarama (45 min drive) and spend the day walking in the shoes of some local Mama’s. We tried our hand at ploughing the fields, cutting grass for the cows, carrying water from the well, weaving and enjoyed a delicious home cooked lunch. The hospitality couldn’t be beaten and the memories are one’s we will treasure forever. This was no tourist show, the Mama’s enjoyed our company and we equally so.
