Walking along the street in the Latin Quarter, we smelled a BBQ and heard tunes coming from a rooftop across the street. The smell and the sound made me determined to find the source.
As it turned out, the breaking and entering I was gearing myself up to do wasn't necessary. The Plateau Mont-Royal Hostel hosts events open to the public on the roof. This concert by a Senegalese band had a great, communal feeling and the roof was a perfect place to watch the sun fade over the town. Plus, the proprietors gave us some great recommendations for a cocktail bar and a microbrew bar nearby.
