Head outside and ride into the wild backcountry of Alaska on an ATV. After watching a safety video and donning a helmet, safety glasses and gloves, you’ll hit the trails. Drive (or ride, if you are the passenger in a side-by-side ATV) through Healy Valley and along Dry Creek, where you can look for gold and, depending on the time of day, watch a sunset from a hilltop. There are many scenic views on the route and it’s not uncommon to see moose amid the aspen trees. If you go in the morning, there’s also a break for lunch, which typically consists of salmon, ribs, chicken, chili, corn bread and pasta salad finished off with a berry cobbler.
