Atocha Railway Station

28045 Madrid, Spain

I love bizarre and found some of it in Madrid. Behind the main train station are these two dolls heads that must be 7 feet high! These are much more interesting than the big head (and hand) at Les Halles in Paris.

Left luggage in Madrid

Madrid’s main train station has to be one of the coolest around. Not only do they have 7 foot tall doll heads out back but inside its like a green house with tropical plants and a big pond/pool for the 100 or so terrapins swimming around. There is also this set of luggage, including a man’s hat and umbrella, all in bronze. There is another freaky statue out another side door too. I hit the station today to catch the train to Toledo. If you’re in Madrid and have time to spare, head to Toledo; it’s nothing like Ohio!

Living in harmony

Madrid’s railway station, where terrapins and pigeons live together in peace and harmony!
