Why you should visit Tanzania during May (off season)
Like many destinations in the world, travelling somewhere during their low season has many perks aside from just the cost-saving.
Head to Tanzania during the April/May low season and enjoy scenes of lush greenery and fields of flowers in bloom (if you are looking).
In particular if you are leaving for safari from Arusha around this time of year, keep an eye out on the roadside near the Arusha airport strip and you will most likely see fields of flowers planted for their seeds. Alternate years in this area you can enjoy fields of sunflowers grown and farmed for the healthy oil and seeds.
As you head further out of town and into Masai territory of Monduli you can see plains and hills with lush greenery and watering holes filled to the brim with plenty of local cattle quenching their thirst.
The national parks are also green with picture perfect opportunities for some wonderful birds playing amongst the tall grasses. Avoid the crowds and enjoy a wonderful show by Mamma Africa.
