Located in the Hotel Plaza Athenee, Arabelle restaurant manages to deliver a brunch experience that feels fancy, without being stuffy or overly formal. The beautifully decorated, gold accented rooms, with their long white linens, give the restaurant a very sophisticated feel, while the friendly attentive service makes you feel at home.
Arabelle features a $49, 3-course prix fix menu that is really more like four courses, as it starts with a basket of delicious scones, muffins and croissants served with clotted cream. The starter course kicks things off with the choice of the restaurant's featured lemon crepes, fresh fruit, a huge homemade granola parfait, red quinoa porridge, or a bagel with lox. At any other restaurant, these items would be enough for brunch on their own but then you move on to the main course which offers traditional breakfast choices, from eggs to waffles, as well as fantastic lunch based options, like salads and sandwiches. And finally, when you think you couldn't possibly eat another bite, the dessert course comes and you will somehow find room to finish the warm banana bread pudding, or perfectly browned creme brulee trio, or one of the other fine dessert choices. Overall brunch at Arabelle is a lovely way to spend a special occasion, or just an elegant afternoon on the Upper East Side.
