The Apsara Hotel is a small boutique property situated along the Nam Khan. I’m staying my final two nights in Luang Prabang here because when I travel solo, being surrounded by the same four walls for greater than three nights incites a touch of cabin fever in me.
I discovered the Apsara Hotel on HIP Hotels, one of my go-to hotel booking sites for, well, hip hotels. The Apsara Hotel website bills itself as “funky, fun, and fabulously affordable” and it is. Jewel-toned Chinese lanterns, tropical plants and contemporary furniture dressed-up in brightly colored silk cushions light up the lobby.
My room is less contemporary and more colonial in style than the lobby, but equally charming. Floor-to-ceiling windows open up to a sounds and sight of the river, ornate pillows cover the bed and the dark wooden moldings lend a nice finishing touch. The Luang Prabang guidebook provided by the hotel is clever and written with a sense of humor. The Apsara Hotel was an excellent choice.
