If you want to see a small-town Independence Day parade, head over to Yampa, Colorado. This quaint town of less than five hundred people holds its Fourth of July procession every year. Sights such as the local marching band, citizens on horseback, tractors, old-fashioned automobiles, buggies, and the fire department can be seen heading down Main Street in all their glory. Afterwards, watch an exciting game of cowboy polo played on unpaved Moffat Avenue. Participating residents gallop along on horses while using brooms to hit the ball into the opposing team's goal. Once the festivities have finished, stop by the Antlers Café and Bar for some delicious food and drink, including the delectable chicken fried steak. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside and very close to nature adventures like hiking and fishing, Yampa is an excellent place to visit during the warm summer months.
