You'd be forgiven for thinking the largest Caribbean Festival in the world is in, oh I don't know, the Caribbean... If you're like me, the last place you would guess is in a farmer's field in rural Flanders Belgium. But that's exactly where the Antilliaanse Feesten takes place every year.
35000 festival-goers gather in the small town of Hoogstraten, each year, for a weekend of food, dancing, and of course, music. Entertainers come from around the world, but the one thing they all have in common is their Caribbean beat.
The festival takes place over a weekend in August, on 3 different stages. There is also a world-food area, a market, camping sites and a salsa dance tent.
