All of the 30+ beaches on the island of Sint Maarten/Saint-Martin are open to the public, but some are easier to get to than others. Anse Marcel, tucked in a beautiful bay at the northern tip is worth the effort to reach. After descending to sea level, we left the car in a public parking lot and walked to the beach, which is bracketed by pricey hotels. The sheltered bay limits wind and the sandy beach tapers gradually. We took a break for lunch outdoors at one of the hotels before moving on.
