Anıtkabir

Turkey's Founding Father
Much like the Washington Monument, but designed like the Lincoln Memorial, Anıtkabir is the resting place for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. In 1923, Turkey became a Westernized country. Today, the mix of East and West co-exist and struggle on the streets of major cities. Among the sites at Anıtkabir, besides the mausoleum, are Atatürk's cars, a historical film, Lion Road hosting Hittite lion statues, and depending on the time, changing of the guards.
