Looking for less touristy, head to the east coast!
Nilaveli is a small town, located a few kilometers north from the main eastern city, Trincomalee.
The tsunami of 2004 wiped everything out. Until 2009, civil wars greatly hindered tourism.
Now, it is every bit of peaceful and new.
•The resort: very clean + posh.
•Beautiful breakfast buffet from 7-10.
•Diverse lunch + dinner menu. Order lunch on the beach with a strawberry daiquiri.
•For dinner, try the Sri Lankan Curry & Rice, wash down with a Caipiroska.
•Large cocktail menu, no shortage of alcohol and beverage options.
Serene, quiet, not a whole lot to do, but if your looking to literally relax, mediate and disconnect- the Anilana Nilaveli is perfect. Worth the long drive from Colombo, I will definitely be back!
