In latitudes farther north, November is a month to say goodbye to fall and prepare for the short, dark days of winter. But in the British Virgin Islands, it is a time to celebrate the bounty from the sea, exquisitely prepared by leading chefs. Even before the month has started, the celebration kicks off on October 30 with the Barefoot Gourmet Soiree, an elegant beach dining experience with live food stations prepared by visiting international and local chefs. The feasting continues on November 5, with Taste of Tortola in Road Town, and then Taste of Virgin Gorda, on November 19. Both events include chances to enjoy dishes from the islands’ best restaurants, as well as live entertainment. On Thanksgiving weekend, you can skip the usual turkey and opt instead for lobster prepared in a variety of different styles at the popular Anegada Lobster Festival.
