At the Amarillo Zoo you don’t merely observe the animals from afar, instead it offers several different ways to get up close and interact with them. The zoo offers fun and unique events like “Critter de Mayo,” a Cinco de Mayo-themed event where guests can enjoy the zoo with a Mexican holiday twist, featuring animals from south of the border, like parrots, boas, and toads. (Yes, there is mariachi music.) Another special event is their “Roars and Snores” sleepovers for the entire family. The evening begins with a scavenger hunt, followed by several up-close animal encounters, enrichment programs, and late-night hikes before falling asleep amongst the lions, tigers, and bears.
