Originally a Moorish fort and a testament to Almohad architecture, the Royal Alcázar is one of the three buildings that put Sevilla on the UNESCO World Heritage map. But the secret is its gardens. The intricate tile, latticework and beautiful archways mesmerize, and your imagination is ignited as the picture of royal life comes into view. It is an excellent break from the Sevilla heat during the summer months. Arrival in the early hours is recommended, as is spending at least a half, or even a full day to explore.
