Albersdorf

Just off a broad curve in the Kiel Canal, Albersdorf is an important Stone Age site whose wooded areas are packed with raised tombs built between 3400–2900 B.C.E. The open-air cultural park and archaeology museum in the old train station hotel justify a return visit to the Kiel Canal. The stone anchorages to a now-vanished though once-famous 19th-century arched bridge are also among the historic sites here. While the bridge is gone, the anchorages that remain enjoy national monument status.
