Aigantighe Art Gallery

South Canterbury's most lovely destination for art, the Aigantighe is housed in an Edwardian home once lived in by a local family with Scottish roots. The building, constructed in 1908 for the pioneering Grant family, was donated to the town as a museum in 1956. The current collection mixes New Zealand, British Victorian and international artwork with original architectural features and the historic artifacts collected by the Grants. A modern wing contains a children's gallery; pieces in the sculpture garden outside are set amid mature plants and flowers.
