In 1913 Rosa and Josef Prousek opened AIDA in Vienna's 9th district and today there are dozens of them throughout the city. While a franchise doesn't typically seem so appealing, AIDA is an exception.
The AIDA at Stephansplatz, right beside the cathedral, is the one most travelers will encounter. With their signature pink color and mid-20th century retro style, it's an eye catcher and is busy late into the night.
In addition to great cakes and strudel, they also make chocolates, which you wouldn't find in one of the traditional coffee houses for which Vienna is known.
