Nano, creative, edgy, tasty – all apt descriptors for Adroit Theory brewery and its beers!
You’ll not find basic style-focused beers here. Instead, you’ll experience a surprising mix of tastes. On my recent visit, I sampled an imperial stout aged in a rum barrels, coffee IPA, guava and pineapple Belgian-style tripel, and, in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, a trio of cranberry saison, sweet potato casserole porter, and stuffing stout. And yes, the savory stuffing herbs merged delightfully with the dark stout. The label art, names, descriptions, and tasting room wall art are as edgy as the beers.
Typically open only on weekends, the tasting room stays busy. Seats at the bar and scattered tables provide spots to rest and chat while sipping. Customers can enjoy tasters and full glasses of beers on tap and in bottles or fill their growlers or purchase 375ml bottled beers to go. You could also join the Black Heart Society, for access to six beers brewed exclusively for members.
Though larger batches of their more popular beers are brewed at a nearby contract brewing facility, their small pilot system allows the brewers to continually experiment and try new ideas.
When you go, be sure to look for B/A/Y/S: Black As Your Soul imperial stout is aged in a variety of barrels. Find out the barrel du jour when you’re there!
