Gregorian Chants in Romanesque Abbey
The Abbey of Sant' Antimo is outside the Tuscan city of Montalcino. Almost gave up trying to find it but when we arrived at this beautiful Romanesque abbey standing in all its solitary splendour we were glad we'd persisted. The abbey is a spectacular example of Romanesque architecture. Believed to been built by orders of Charlemagne, its quiet beauty is captivating. Richly decorated with animal and vegetable motifs. Monks sing 12–minute Gregorian chants at specific times throughout the day. Try to plan your visit during these times. Mesmerizing and well worth the visit.
