Abbe Museum

The Abbe Museum has two locations that provide an introduction to Maine’s Wabanaki nations—the Abenaki, Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot. Its historic trailside museum at Sieur de Monts Spring inside Acadia National Park is open from spring through fall and has exhibits on early-20th-century Native American archaeology in Maine. The contemporary museum in Bar Harbor’s downtown explores the art, culture and history of the Wabanaki through a permanent People of the First Light exhibition as well as temporary ones and special events.
