Learning to be a Master Peruvian Chef
I just returned from an exploration of Peru. While the Sacred Valley, Cusco and Machu Picchu were very inspiring and captivating, my favorite experience was a local cooking class at A Mi Manera Restaurant in Cusco. We met our local guide, Marcos, who was born and raised in Cusco. We next walked with him while we learned about street food in general and tasted the morning breakfast delights offered at storefronts and by street vendors on the way to San Pedro Market. In the market, we experienced first hand the meet market (you must have a strong stomach!), smelled the local produce and herbs, and watched as a homemade fruit smoothie was made just for us using fresh fruits, pollen, honey, and aloe vera. Yum! After the local introduction to Peruvian cuisine, we headed to the restaurant where expert chefs tutored us in the ways of Peruvian cuisine. We proudly set about preparing Lomo Saltado, Ceviche, Rocotto Rellono (stuffed peppers), and of course - the famous Pisco sour. After our bellies were stuffed full, we receive the recipes for our new masterpieces to bring home. What a great cuisine tour experience! Only with Adventure Life!
