It’s not easy to find a good restaurant open on Sunday evening in Sao Paulo. After a full day of visiting art galleries, and feeling somewhat tired, my husband and I discovered that every restaurant on our list was closed. We went to inspect two places near our hotel in Paulista Plaza suggested by the concierge, but were disappointed by the menus. Back at the hotel, the concierge then suggested A Bela Sintra, which she said was about a 20-minute cab drive away and somewhat expensive. We decided to give it a try and never regretted it. It was the best dinner we had in Sao Paulo. There were numerous types of bacalhau (salted cod), a house specialty, as well as an extensive menu of meat and fresh seafood. The food, wine, and service were outstanding. And the quiet elegance of the place made us forget how tired we were.
