Consider yourself warned. The beaches and water at 7 mile beach in Negril are stunning - but the constant approach of vendors, touts, tour guides and hair braiders can be a bit overwhelming. It's hard to turn them all away w/out feeling a bit rude, but at the end of the day you can't blame a guy for trying to make a buck. That said, there are some great beaches and islands just minutes away via boat ride where you can do day tours w/ lunch and all the red strip included, and get away from the crowds. Don't worry about finding the boat captains - bring a day bag, take a stroll on the beach and they'll find you!
